The Sd.Kfz. 251 was the standard German armored half-track of World War II, serving on every front from the invasion of Poland through the final battles of 1945. The Ausf. C variant, introduced in 1940, featured a simplified armored hull compared to the earlier Ausf. A and B models while retaining the mobility and versatility that made the vehicle the backbone of German Panzergrenadier units. Used to transport infantry under armor, it also served as the basis for dozens of specialized command, reconnaissance, mortar, anti-aircraft, and engineering vehicles throughout the war.
