The Sd.Kfz. 251/9 Ausf. C was a specialized German half-track designed to provide mobile infantry support by mounting a short-barreled 7.5cm cannon in the armored personnel carrier chassis. Known as the Stummel (stump), this vehicle gave Panzergrenadier units a powerful direct-fire weapon capable of engaging enemy infantry, field positions, and light fortifications while keeping pace with armored formations. The early Ausf. C version featured the distinctive armored body design used before later production changes simplified construction during the war.
