The AFV Club AF35263 1/35 Sd.Kfz.263 Schwerer Panzerfunkwagen 8-Rad Model Kit faithfully reproduces the German Sd.Kfz.263 Heavy Armored Radio Vehicle, an eight-wheeled command and communications vehicle developed to coordinate fast-moving reconnaissance and armored units during World War II. Distinguished by its large frame antenna and specialized radio equipment, the Sd.Kfz.263 served as a mobile command post, enabling commanders to maintain vital battlefield communications while operating close to the front lines.

Based on the successful Sd.Kfz.232 eight-wheeled armored car chassis, the Sd.Kfz.263 sacrificed its rotating turret in favor of an enlarged superstructure housing powerful long-range radio equipment and additional crew stations. These vehicles played an essential role in reconnaissance battalions and armored formations throughout campaigns in Poland, France, North Africa, and on the Eastern Front, where reliable communication was critical for coordinating rapidly advancing mechanized forces.
