The F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo was developed by Taiwans Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC) during the 1980s and 1990s as a domestically produced fighter capable of fulfilling air defense and multirole missions. Named after former Republic of China President Chiang Ching-Kuo, the aircraft incorporated modern digital avionics, fly-by-wire controls, and a design influenced by several contemporary fighter concepts.
