The IJN Hamakaze (meaning Beach Wind) was a Kager-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy one of Japans most capable and modern destroyer designs of World War II.

By 1945, she was operating in the Type Ko configuration, optimized for heavy anti-aircraft defense and reduced torpedo armament, reflecting the IJNs desperate shift toward anti-aircraft escort duties late in the war.
