The LTV A-7D Corsair II was the U.S. Air Forces version of the carrier-capable A-7 attack jet originally developed for the Navy. Designed as a subsonic close air support and interdiction aircraft, the A-7D offered enhanced performance, better avionics, and more firepower than its Navy predecessors, and played a major role in U.S. military operations throughout the 1970s and 1980s.
