The ES (Evolution Series) of locomotives were designed to meet the U.S. EPAs Tier 2 locomotive emissions guidelines that took effect in 2005. Since then, railroads such as Canadian National have adopted the ES44 throughout their network. CN has deep roots in the United States and plays a vital role in the nations railroad operations. As part of Americas 250th Anniversary, Canadian National has introduced a striking Air Force One inspired livery on locomotive numbered 2026 to pay homage to Americas transportation sector.
