The Tiger II, officially designated Sd.Kfz. 182 and commonly known as the King Tiger or Knigstiger, represented the pinnacle of German heavy tank development during the final stages of World War II. Armed with the formidable 8.8cm KwK 43 L/71 gun and protected by exceptionally thick armor, the King Tiger was capable of engaging Allied armor at ranges where it remained largely immune to return fire. The early-production vehicles featured the distinctive Porsche-designed turret seen in this kit, a configuration produced in limited numbers before the adoption of the more common Henschel turret.
