Model Kit

This model assembly kit recreates the wide wheel version of the German Schwimmwagen in 1/35 scale. It compliments Tamiyas popular German Schwimmwagen (item 35224) kit as it adds a variant version. The wide wheel version included wide tires and added equipment such as MG35 machine gun and two new figures.

Criss-crossed by rivers and dotted with wetlands, European geography poses significant military challenges and led the German Wehrmacht to develop the Schwimmwagen, an amphibious vehicle based upon the Ferdinand Porsche-designed Kbelwagen. With a 4-cylinder gasoline engine capable of 25hp, the Schwimmwagen featured the 80km/h top speed on ground. The rear three-bladed screw propeller was lowered manually using a rod and provided water speed up to 10km/h. While paucity of materials meant many Schwimmwagen used 133mm tires, those with wider 200mm tires enjoyed superior off-road performance.
