The Kinetic 1/48 Shenyang J-5 Chinese-built MiG-17F model aircraft kit recreates one of the most important early jet fighters in Chinese aviation history. The Shenyang J-5 was Chinas domestically produced version of the Soviet MiG-17F Fresco, entering service in the late 1950s and becoming a cornerstone of the Peoples Liberation Army Air Forces early jet fleet. Produced by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation, the J-5 featured a powerful afterburning engine, improved performance over earlier subsonic fighters, and excellent maneuverability that made the MiG-17 family a formidable opponent during the early Cold War era. The type served extensively in Chinese service and was also exported to several allied nations, playing a significant role in the development of Chinas aviation industry.
